Bregje Hofstede published her debut novel De hemel boven Parijs in 2017 and was nominated for the Libris Literatuur Prijs, the Anton Wachterprijs and the Gouden Boekenuil. Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant said: “Hofstede’s debut stands out in how immaculate it is, the build-up is calm with more action in the right moments, just like the coverage of a rugby game”. She publishes her work in multiple literary magazines and newspapers and writes about feminism for De Correspondent. In 2016 she published a book about burn-outs ‘De herontdekking van het lichaam (the rediscovery of the body). About the time right after her own burn-out she said: “when I was able to read again I started with poetry. That had such a physical effect on me: I got goosebumbs, cramps, chills. It was the first time that I noticed how much of a physical experience reading is.” Her newest novel “Drift” has just been published.
